Do you have what it takes to turn back time?

today was an incredible day. I went to 37 Studios, to record the first song off my EP, "Turn Back Time" my dad and I arrived at around 12:30 noon. Aaron and Gaby were already there, so we got right to work. While Aaron set up the mics and I tuned, me, Aaron and my dad talked about some stuff and we talked to Gaby a bit too. Then we got straight down to busy. I tracked all the guitar in about 4 or 5 takes. Aaron was impressed by how quickly I was able to use the metronome. Honestly, so was I. the first time I used one was Tuesday (yesterday), and then today I was in the studio. ha. When he polished some mistaked, we set up to record vocals. After a dry run, I noticed I missed a section on guitar, so we fixed that up. At this point, my dad left to go finish up some errands (no not aarons;)). Then we started on vocals. I recorded most of the vocals in 1 or 2 takes per section (verse 1, chorus, verse 2, chorus, bridge, chorusx2). afterwards, I went into the soundbooth. Aaron played around with some mixing, and while we chatted. He's going to make me a few different verisons and he's going to just play with it and have some fun. He's adding some drums, and some backup vocals and some other fun stuff. My dad arrived back after a little with tidings of Starbucks for Aaron, Gaby, and me. Then we just talked for a while. Aaron said how much he liked my sound and we talked about What happened in vegas for a little. Afterwards we set up plans for recording again (probably the fourteen of december.)

All in all it was extremely cool and productive day.
a few extra deets.

I'm recording a 4-5 song EP titled "Lyrics In A Notebook."

the first four I already have written, the fifth Aaron and I will be writing and recording together.

The EP should drop Winter 2009. Preferably, Febuary. I'll let you know when I know more specificly.

I'm singing and playing guitar on the EP.

Aaron is my producer, backup vocalist (on the EP).

I record each song for $150.

You are the one the one that lies close to me, whispers hello I miss you quite terribly...

SOOOOO yesterday, Alix and I went to the Hellogoodbye, Ace Enders, Play Radio Play!, Nevershoutnever! concert. it's a dandy story if you'd like to hear about it, continue reading...

so, on tuesday, I told my mom she needed to buy the tickets, and I had the window open, but I guess someone went on the computer between me and her, cause she never did, so on Thursday we went to ticketmaster to get tickets, and it was sold out. so my mom called the venue and asked if it was really sold out and they said they might add more rows, call back on friday morning. so she did and they said that if you get their early they MIGHT have some. and then we called right before we were going to leave to pick up Alix and they said they would NOT have any at the door. I called up Alix and told her there were NONE, and we wouldn't get it, but she had faith and confidence and finally convinced me to go. We get down there around 4:45PM/5PM - ish, and there's about 22 people in line in front of us. We ask them if they have tickets and for the most part, none of them did. We went inside the Magic Stick to ask if they were selling tickets and they said they only had a few left, first come first serve basis... So we went back in line. Alix, smart oh smart Alix, wore her moccasins to the concert, in the snowy/rainy weather and didn't wear socks so she pretty much almost got frostbite. She went inside a dozen or so times, and I kinda just stayed in line. Then this car showed up and people were like 'WHO IS THAT?!?!?!" and i was like, "oh, it's nevershoutnever!" totally joking of course, and then low and behold it really was christofer drew's car, and he walked past us, like 3 times... haha i said hi to him.. :p then i got really cold, so i went inside for a little bit, and just so happens to be Forest, the lead singer of Hellogoodbye standing there buying some pizza. ha, random. I talked to him for a little, then I talked to these two other people, with Alix. we got talking and then said "this is a stupid question but, are you in hellogoodbye?" and one of them said, "I'm not, but Ryan is." and I was like, "ohh, I like, love your music, but I never look at pictures of you guys." and he's like "oh, well that's a good thing, then you like us for the music, not for our looks." and i'm like "exactly." then he asked us if we had tickets, and me and alix are like, "no, we were gunna buy them at the door, but he says only like the first few people in line are getting 'em" and so Ryan was like, oh I can get you on the guest list, just write down your names on some paper. sooo, I just so happened to have one last promo card about myself in my pocket, and alix asked 'em if we could bring in two friends and they're like, just write your names plus 1, so i wrote "Laura Jean + 1 Alix H(her last name.) +1" And they read my promo card and were like, "aww to bad we won't be here for it." haha it was funny. and we called our friend, whom still said he wasn't going after that, so we took these two people my mom had been talking to for like three hours in line named Billy and Vericonia. sooo, we got our hands "x"ed and then we were told to go into the line that doesn't have tickets, and I was like, we're on the guest list, so this person had my card, and she's like ohkay, do you have ID and i'm like, uhh, flip it around, it's a promo card about me. and so we went in for free (yay guest lists. ;)). and we went right up to the stage. and Alix went straight to the merch line. so, I sat down on the stage, cause i was tired of standing in line forever, and i talked to this girl next to me and she was like, yea, it's my birthday today, and i was like, awww! i'll get nevershoutnever! to sing happy birthday to you. anddd, then these people said to me, "hey don't you know what happened in vegas?" and i was like, "yea" and they're like "ohhh they're right over there.." so i got up and i saw a hoodie that said "do you think your orginal" on the back, and i was like, "aaron?" and he turned around and was like "Laura!" and gave me a hug and he brought me over to Nick, Steve, and Dylan, and was like "Everytimee!!" and i gave them all hugs and we chatted for a bit and Aaron gave me a what happened in vegas card, so i gave him one of my promo cards, and he was like, "darn! it's the same day as the all time low, the maine concert, otherwise i'd be there, i'm gunna keep this though." and i told him about my big show in february coming up and he's like, maybe i'll go to that one. then i went back to my 'seat' on the stage. and alix came back and finally the concert started with nevershoutnever! he was amazing, i sat on the stage his entire set, haha it was pretty fun. ;) he did amazing, after his first song, i did get him to sing happy birthday, cause im just that good. <3. and he told some stories and stuff, he was just adorable. he did amazing too. he's the biggest hippie i know, i swear. when he was done alix wanted to walk around, so we got out and stuff. and then i went to the merch and got a nevershoutnever shirt and cd. Thennnn, play radio play! was next. they were really good. i had never listened to them prior, and they were good. haha. their lead singer reminded me of We The Kings's lead singer. after them, it was Ace Enders, and for them we went up closer to the mosh-pit area. about a song after we got there, Aaron Vegas and Nick (whiv) started a mosh pit, it was pretty funny. we got really close to the stage, like four or so rows away. and then i saw reece and river, two of the kids from slg that go to my school, so i said hey... haha. after ace enders was done, me and alix got back out. and we bought some water. then hellogoodbye was on, so we ventured back into the mosh pit. it was realllll fun. they did really good. untill, this girl next to me started punching me like a maniac, i'm like what the fuck? and she just punched me more. so i started to like leave, cause it was like 10:30ish and alix had said her mom was coming at like 10, hahah, and i got out, and gave aaron a hug bye, and then i lost her, and lost all service on my phone.. so i tried to find her again which was terribly insanely hard. and i finally got service and found her, but her mom wasn't coming untill 11, but we didn't want to try to get back into the mosh, so we stood by the meet and greet line for nevershoutnever!, and after a while we got bored of it, so we went to the pool table area. and then alix noticed austin waving to us, he's also in slg, and we went over and said hey. then we went back over to the meet and greet line. and we saw the lead singer of Ace Enders, and we talked to him for a little bit and got photos and he signed this promo card, i felt awkward getting his autograph, i dont get autographs these days... and the concert finally ended at like 11:20-ish, and alix's mom texted her and was like, im here come out RIGHT NOW! and we tried waiting a few more minutes, but her mom came in, and she made us leave, so we didn't get to 'meet' christofer drew. it was sad. i'm still sad. he's my favorite singer. i'll meet him at his next concert though. <3.

yea, it was really great show. (: if you weren't there you deffff missed out.

I am running out of words to say...

get ready for a LONG one.

1st (oct 17-19)- rally. it was way way to short. we headed out on friday around 9 am. the bus ride, sucked. way tooooo long. we got to the YMCA camp around six pm. i seriously freaked out. I hugged all my friends are screamed at the sight of them. my minnesota babies! :D it was amazing to be 'home.' i swear Y.O.U. Rallies are the most incredible place in the entire world. I put my stuff in Ducan Cabin. i swear i always get that at fall. then i just hung out with everyone till opening cerimony. then it was families. the family this time around didnt seem as close as usual. i dunno, it's probably cause im just so used to the longer time from june (five days instead of the like 1 and a half). anyways, families was cool. yeaaaaaaa blahh... saturday i had an emo-mazing day. pms-like-a-bitch-day. ;) yea. it wasn't so much fun. but i got a lot of love so that was good. i was also just so like stressed. but i talked to my yst, twitch, and it helped. :) he's good at that stuff. yeaaaaa that was during free time. uhm, i hardly ate anything while there. cause i hate the food. oh, and i forgot to bring sleeping stuff, so i got like 10 minutes of sleep that weekend. uhm, skipping around cause im tired.... the dance. it was halloween themed. me being the awesome person i am, and couldnt really think of anything did the 'over-kill costume' ;) yea. oooh and my friend Ian wore my purple jeans. ;) haha! it was funny. Matt asked me to dance for the 2nd slow song, so we did. it was nice. :) and then for the... fourth? or third, i dont remember, i danced with Twitch. that was nice too. :) uhm, i really hated stairways. :p eh. wasn't so amazing this time, sadly. ah well. it was really just to short. and i plan and WILL go to minnesota before june rally. because, i have to. i miss everyone from there so badly.

monday, oct 20. - challenge day - amazingly like rally, only at the school setting. we did a lot of "challenges." it was cool. there was a lot of hugging. there were 'familes' there too. in mine was Mr. Lafferty (my bio teacher), Lisa, Austin, and this freshmen and this junior. it was full of tears of sadness and happiness. that day was just depressing and tiring. i was honestly a wreck after rally and then all of that, it was major overkill. i cried about 20 times that day, literally. emo-tastical.

saturday, oct 25. - concert - so i was originally going to go to a different show, but i changed plans like literally last second because my friends Jordan and Nancy needed a ride. I went to see Cash Cash, The White Tie Affair, Tyga, and Metro Station. cash cash and the white tie affair did really good. we missed part of cash cash, cause we got there late, but whatevs. we joined the mosh pit during the white tie affair, and after they finished their lead singer threw his towel into the audience, causing an imdiate cat-fight. oh, terrible. there was punching, and dragging of peoples, and pushing, and shoving, and pulling and everything. and groping up on each other and fdksfjsld;k! ew. it wasn't the best. these like 10 year olds were screaming "save room for jesus." it was hella 'nooying. i wanted to smack them and say GET THE FUCK OUT OF HERE, YOUR TOO YOUNG. i didn't though. after a while it just got rediculus, and nancy, jordan and me went upstairs (it was at clutch cargo's.) tyga really wasn't that good. i'm not to big on rap, sooo, it just didn't really interest me. i sat in a couch on the upper place for a while. the Metro station entered the stage. they did fantastic. i realllyyyy enjoyed their performance. they're really good musicians. they sang some real good songs, dear hannah, 17 forever, shake it, california, and a few others, im not to familiar with (i dont own their cd, sadly. :[.) afterwards, jordan, nancy, and i met the bands. all of them. they were all real nice. (: i got pictures with just about everyone but mason and trace, cause we just barely met them. :p ha. good show.

nowwwwww, this week is going to be crazy.
today i'm going to see high school musical 3. i've been told it's really good and there's a lot of tears, soo yea.
tomorrow i have push play at somerset.
thursday it's push play in rochester.
friday it's phil bensen, what happened in vegas, and push play at the eagle theatre.
saturday it's lets get it, the arrival, and so let go.

hah, i'll fill you in on those, later.

fingers crossed i don't die of sleep exhustion.
on top of all of those shows, i have an oral history project in english due on halloween. joyyy.

Whoa Oh Whoa Oh, why do I put myself in these situations?

Yesterday was great. (:

Started off reallyyyyyyy slow, and I had way to much homework, but Around 5:30 Alix, me and her mom left for the Concert. the car ride was nothing special, but when we got to the venue it was crazy how many people were in line. There had to be at least 850+ people outside by the time we got there. We didn't really have to wait in line, they started letting people go in before we got there, so we just hopped into line. once we got inside I bought two shirts (one for me, one for Emily Q). The concert was going to start soon so we got as somewhere near-ish. probably like 10-13 rows of people were in front of us. First off was Sing It Loud. That's the band Alix and I really came for. They did really good! It was amazing, and they're awesome live. Second Up was Hit The Lights. I've never really listened to their music prior, but they did pretty good. During their set, Alix's mom texted her and said that one of the members from Sing It Loud was signing autographs and stuff, so we left our place, which by that point was about 6-8 row, to go see who it was. It turned out to be nate, their bassist. he was really sweet! we took a bunch of pictures and got a couple autographs. it was cool, he was really sweet. then we went back to the concert part. A little bit later, Forever the Sickest Kids was up. They did reallyyyyyyy good! their second song they played was Whoa Oh, which is like one of my FAVORITE songs so it was good to hear it, at the same time, another member of Sing It Loud came out so we went to see who it was. This tim e it was Ben, their keyboardist. He was pretty awesome, we took photos and he signed our stuff then we went back to the crowd. By this time we were probably like in 'row' twenty. :p hahhaa. We watched the rest of Forever the Sickest Kids set then went back over to Alix's mom to just calm down for a bit, Cobra wasn't going to be on for about half an hour. So I'm just standing there and I'm watching some people leaving and stuff, and I see a "To Write Love On Her Arms" shirt. and I was about to shout to the person wearing it, "hey I like your shirt." and then I look up and I see Nick. So I kinda like freak and stand like directly infront of him and he looks up and goes "HEY!" hah. it was funny. Nick, Steve, and Billy (3/5th of What Happened In Vegas [they weren't performing tonight]) were there. I gave 'em all hugs and said hey, and Alix went totally silent, cause she loves them. And I introduced her to them and took a photo of them and stuff and it was cool. Nick asked me if I was going to the Halloween Party and I said yea, and Steve asked me if I had been crowd surfing, haha I said no, sadly. (he had been.) ;) Then they went outside or something. And me and Alix had to go to the bathroom so we did. hahah. So we came out and this time we went into the middle area of the venue. It was like a cooler angle for viewing. And then we saw Billy again and he was standing near us. and we saw Nate (from Sing it Loud) again. Finally Cobra Starship went on. They did really good. They swore a lot, hahaha, Alix wasn't a fan of that, neither was her mom. It was kinda funny. We jumped and stuff, and they played a bunch of good songs and stuff. And then we had to go, cause it was getting pretty late. (Cobra was still playing, but it was like 10:30 and I was sooo tired.) we told billy goodbye and headed out. As we were walking back to our car, we saw some of the guys from Forever The Sickest Kids by their bus. (there was a gate between us and them) and I asked one of them for a hug through the gate, which I did get. :) hahah. It was cool.

So now I'm really sore, and can barely talk without hurting my throat, butttttt whatever.
it was really fun. :] And I can't wait till the next concert I go to <33 =]
